The International Property Measurement Standards (IPMS) publication from the RICS sets out how to assess the different spaces inside a building. IPMS1, IPMS2, IPMS3 as well as the old RICS assessments of NIA, GIA & GEA can be calculated if these are preferred and are based on the RICS Guide to Measuring Practice.
